First day back to work.

Today is day 14 post-op and it was my first day back to work.  I can't believe how tired I felt, not sleepy I just felt like I was dragging. I think its because I didn't have enough calories let alone any protein.  the soup I took for lunch was a bit too chunky and I didn't have my strainer. I also wore some pants today to work that are all stretch and comfy but after wearing them for so long I started to feel as if though I was wearing a binder or something. It was really tight and uncomfortable for a ten hour work day.  Now I know why they said loose clothing after surgery.

As each day goes by I notice improvement in how I feel. I still find it hard to bend over and pick something up off of the floor. My friend had a spur of the moment birthday party for her son and we left early because I was exhausted from leaning over trying to grab my 19 months old hand to keep her out of trouble.  Is it normal to hurt when I bend?  Bend sideways?

On a bright side, Ron stopped by this evening so we could see each other.  We didn't spend much time together since I am so tired but I love the fact that he is willing to come over if even for just a hug & kiss.  I told him I felt pretty lucky to have him in my life and he said he felt lucky also.  I don't want to jinx us, but I am very happy with how we are

  1. Yes, I sent too early. Can I blame it on my phone?

Anyways... I am happy with how we are getting along. Ron, you really made my day end well just by holding me and being next to me. See you tomorrow! :)

  2. You are so sweet!

Congrats on getting back to work. Getting back to my regular routine really helped me after surgery.

    Keep up the good work!

  3. Oh...and yes, it is normal to be uncomfortable when you bend over. It's your body getting used to the port and you probably still have some swelling under your skin. It will take some time for your muscle that your port is attached to to heal. In time you won't even notice it's there.

  4. I seem to remember having odd pains and especially port pain for a good few weeks after surgery.
Sounds like you are doing really well!

  5. The first day back to work was really tough for me, also. I'm still having little random pains here and there so that sounds normal also. Hang in there...I'm told it gets better.

  6. I find the port is still sore, 6 days out. And it bothers me too that I can't really bend over (I've been squatting, which I guess is good!). You don't realize how much twisting/bending you do until you can't! Sneezing is rough for me!

  7. It is definitely normal to get so tired and to still have pain 2 weeks out. Luckily it gets better each day.

  9. all you are going through is fully Normal! Just remember the discomfort will only be temporary. Even me now 6 months out I still sometimes have soreness in my port area, but my Dr says it's normal. Having such small babies I'm sure takes more from you! Good luck! You are doing great!
