48 Days No Protein

I wish that was my daugther's drawing. That is today's hair loss. :(

It has been almost 7 weeks since I had protein and I have another 2 to 3 weeks before I can have solids. I have had some mushie refried beans in the last 3 weeks. Some eggs over the weekend. Protein shakes... Hate them. Surgery on Aug 19th, two weeks pre-op. Two weeks post-op liquids and now almost 3 weeks on mushies. Sure, my body is looking better. Is the weight loss actually hair loss?

Yes, I cried when I saw that this morning only because each day has been like this for weeks now. Did any of you go through this? Does it end? Should I start looking at super short bald hairstyles?

  1. Hey sweets - I know this can be majorly frustrating but I have seen almost all banders go through this. I hope a bunch reply and tell you this is totally normal...and it does fix itself. Can you put protein powder in some drinks?

  2. What type of protein shakes have you tried? Maybe if you try a different brand you can find something that works for you? Even if you have to choke it down, that protein does wonders for your body! Good luck!

  3. Oh Ang! You have got to get some protein in you girly. I HATE protein shakes, absolutely gag on them. BUT I can tolerate the Muscle Milk Light Chocolate ones. They are pre-made and I get a case at Costco. If you put them in the freezer for about 1/2 hour they get kind of slushy and are pretty good that way. Have you tried those? And I can't believe you have to do mushies for so long. I think most of us only had to do 1-2 weeks. And the hair will grow back, healthier and stronger, really. The 1st couple months are really hard but so worth it when you get over that hump. And you can do this!! You're a single mom...that makes you a super-woman...this is nothing :)

  4. Honey you got to find some protein. Try Nectar. Here is the website: http://www.si03.com/. Enter the site and click on products. You can click on Nectar, Nectar naturals or Nectar Sweets. They even have samples you can purchase to see what you like.

My hair is shedding, but not much since I try to make sure I get all of my protein in. I hope everything works out for you.

  5. GNC has some delicious protein shakes. Banana Cream is SO YUMMY. (it seriously tastes like a pina colada or something). I didn't like the chocolate or vanilla shakes either but I began mixing them with Ice in the blender and making a thick shake; YUMMY!

You HAVE to get your proteins sweetie. Sending hugs and prayers.

  6. oooo I am so sorry! I ordered the sample pack of Nectar that was mentioned above - and this morning I made the yummiest protein shake from a recipe on another blog - I even posted about it and another recipe for soup. Keep trying to get in the protein. I've also heard the biotin is a good thing to add in. Hang in there!
